My creative reuse work fuses collage and jewelry design with found-object assemblage. Utilizing a life beyond the life, and a purpose beyond the purpose, my constructions offer a revival of the ordinary in exciting, unconventional ways.
I source materials from flea markets, thrift stores, and recycling centers. The patina, texture and imperfections found in discarded items, draw me into their untold backstory. I provide an interaction for them to speak through my sculptural compositions. This dialog is my meditation practice.
Choosing a variety of disparate objects, juxtaposing them with skillful manipulation regarding spatial relationships, and employing a simplified color palette, I follow the discardia trail until all elements click into place like tumblers in a lock.
As a lifelong thing-maker, flow and pleasure lift my vision. I’m an improviser. Taking objects out of context and repositioning them while applying my aesthetic bring me greater pleasure than anything else.
